Creating Exceptional Absorbency
For more than 40 years, Bounty has been America’s top-selling paper towel. Bounty combines strength and absorbency to help parents tackle the toughest messes around the home. Procter & Gamble asked Innovia to identify ways to take Bounty's performance to the next level.
Innovia’s ideas for multi-scale absorbent structures inspired the new generation Bounty, patented and launched in 2014.
Modelling Shaving
The shaving industry is a highly competitive field, led by Procter & Gamble's Gillette brand. Shaving has to deliver contradictory benefits, such as closeness and comfort, which depend on the subtle interplay of many physical parameters. P&G asked Innovia to help it navigate this complex design space.
Innovia’s quantitative approach enabled P&G's scientists to predict future behaviour for a wide range of design parameters. P&G is continuing to use Innovia’s insights and models to support development of future products.
Novel Thickeners For Grease
Shell’s Lubricants Discovery Hub is at the forefront of research in lubricant technology and it challenged Innovia to find alternative approaches to thickening grease.
Innovia’s work has created five valuable patents for Shell, for example WO2014122273A1. It will ensure that, across the globe, rotating equipment continues to run smoothly.
Next Generation Paint
AkzoNobel is a world-class manufacturer of decorative coatings, with leading brands such as Dulux, Hammerite, and the professional brand Sikkens. It asked Innovia to identify emerging technologies applicable to wall coatings and to create concepts that would offer new benefits for both professionals and DIY consumers.
As a result of the collaboration with Innovia, AkzoNobel has identified three specific opportunities that it is taking forward.
